Nafis ul Haque Sifat received a call from MIT even before his HSC exams!
Nafis ul Haque Sifat represented Bangladesh in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) held in Indonesia in 2022. He is a second year student of higher secondary Science group in Chandpur Government College. This time he will sit for the HSC examination. Even before passing the HSC Examination, Sifat got the opportunity to study for graduation in the world's best educational institution, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). An e-mail sent from MIT last Wednesday confirmed his admission.
Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Hasan, Superintendent of Police Milan Mahmud and Chandpur Government College Principal Asit Baran Das congratulated Nafis on his success on Friday (March 17).
Nafis lives with his parents in a rented house in Chairman Ghat area of Chandpur city. Both his parents are teachers. He is the younger of two siblings. Nafis's father Md. Nasir Uddin Matlab is a teacher at Raymanensa Women's College. And mother Kamrun Nahar is a teacher of Hajiganj Model College. Nafis's village home is in Naogaon village of Matlab Dakshin Upazila. Her elder sister is studying in Noakhali University of Science and Technology.
Nafis passed SSC with GPA-5 from Chandpur Hasan Ali Government High School. He has a distinct passion to mathematics since childhood. He dreams of studying computer science in the future. In the meantime, he has participated in various olympiads including mathematics at the international level and got medals across the country. Nafis is the youngest Bangladeshi student to have the opportunity to graduate from MIT while studying for HSC. Earlier he represented Bangladesh in Informatics International Olympiad in 2021 and 2022.
